While working at the Tropenmuseum (see picture) I learned about the combination of image and sound. Slideshows, 35 and 16 mm film, video, recording and directing of voice-overs. I made field recordings in India, also in (then) North Yemen, Turkye and Holland, to be used in films and slideshows.
Nocturnal sounds always give me interesting recordings, this was in Orissa, India click
As a freelancer I was involved in the making of many audiovisual productions. For example, I was the recording engineer for a movie called “Kyodai makes the big time” by Ian Kerkhof, a no-budget film that won a Gouden Kalf award, alas not for sound! A team of several people made five cartoonfilms about student life in Utrecht in different ages for the University Museum Utrecht. Lekdijk Recording produced the soundtrack.
